Re-engaging with chess has provided valuable insights into business strategy for me. Initially, I played against the computer on level 1, consistently winning by strategically outmaneuvering my opponent. Seeking a greater challenge, I elevated the difficulty to level 2, where I continued to emerge victorious. Undeterred, I decided to push further to level 3, confident in my ability to succeed. To my surprise, I experienced defeat in the first two matches. Intrigued, I delved into understanding how my opponent could secure victory with fewer moves, strategically leaving 98% of their pieces on the board, with 95% of them remaining stationary.

The initial lesson I grasped was the necessity to enhance my understanding and skills to succeed at a higher level. It became clear that staying at the same level as my current peers wouldn’t facilitate this growth. To progress, I needed to seek guidance from individuals who have either achieved or operated at the level I aspired to reach. This involves reading insightful books, enrolling in executive or graduate-level courses, and consulting with experienced professionals in the business domain. Committing to such endeavors is crucial; otherwise, one risks stagnating at the current level, hindering the businesses capability to effectively compete at a higher echelon.
